PNW data center boom could imperil power supply within 5 years

“The Pacific Northwest’s power grid could be pushed beyond its limits in just five years by the staggering electricity demands of the booming data center industry, regional power planners recently reported.” Instead of adding more fragility to the existing grid, why not simply give the data centers an off-ramp by allowing the creation of new, independent, and unregulated utilities? They could move faster and be more innovative, two attributes sorely needed.
