Free to Choose: A Personal Statement

"The great danger to the consumer is the monopoly - whether private or governmental. His most effective protection is free competition...." (Milton Friedman, Free to Choose) Now let's take that thinking further by layering government monopolies on top of each other (federal, state, RTOs) and on top of government granted monopolies (all utilities everywhere). Should we then expect the best outcomes for consumers? Not at all. That's why Consumer Regulated Electricity (CRE) calls for new, freely competitive, unregulated utilities. In that way CRE will provide consumers with the greatest electricity outcomes.
