2025 Global Data Center Outlook

"Power infrastructure bottlenecks are a major impediment to data center development." That's why we're advocating for new state policy that would allow the creation new, fast moving, innovative, and independent utilities that can focus on the data center growth. We call it "Consumer Regulated Electricity" or CRE.

CRE would be faster than the regulated sector because by focusing on large sophisticated customers and being completely independent (i.e., "islanded"), there would be no need for a state utility regulator's oversight. This also means that CRE would be far more innovative than what's possible in today's sector.
