Yesterday's catastrophic Azure cloud failure is more concerning than most people realize.

The post below is a good reminder of the risk of putting all of your eggs into one basket even when that basket seems very safe. The concept applies to electricity supplies as well. Connecting all of your load into the same grid carries risk. Reducing that risk is one of the many benefits of Consumer Regulated Electricity (CRE). CRE would create the opportunity for new, islanded, and unregulated utilities. Islanding means independence from the big grid. Unregulated means speed and innovation not seen in the sector in a century.
