Texas Senate Business & Commerce Committee Testimony

We had the opportunity on Tuesday to introduce the Texas Senate Business & Commerce Committee to Consumer Regulated Electricity (CRE). The key part of our testimony was the following: "Consumer Regulated Electricity would have the state allow for the creation of new electric utilities that could start from a clean sheet of paper, move much faster than the existing sector, innovate, and by being islanded, that is, not connected to any regulated grid, wouldn’t impose new costs or reliability concerns on the existing grids.  Therefore, there wouldn’t be a need for PUC oversight, and that would allow for far greater speed and rapid innovation.  Speed and rapid innovation cannot exist within the current sector." Special thanks to (and admiration for!) Chairman Charles Schwertner MD and Senator Kolkhorst for engaging with questions despite it coming at the end of a very long day.
